Banks to take advantage of affordable small footprint capture device for branch and remote capture applications
PENSACOLA, FL., June 29th, 2005 – Silver Bullet Technology, Inc. announced today that its Ranger™ Transport API product is now available for MagTek’s MICRImage check reader and scanner. This solution provides the banks a new dimension for branch and remote capture applications enabling a proven and affordable check scanner solution for lower volume capture sites.
“Bankers need flexibility in implementing their Check 21 capture solutions,” said Ray Higgins, director of business development for Silver Bullet. “Ranger allows them to mix and match hardware and software solutions to best fit the diverse range of check volumes processed at teller or remote capture sites. Ranger is combined with FSTC/ANSI compliant Image Quality Assurance to ensure that only high quality images are processed.”
As the industry standard, Silver Bullet’s Ranger software allows customers to use virtually any item-processing software with virtually any check-scanning hardware. The inclusion of MagTek’s MICRImage product allows banks to incorporate this small footprint, attractively priced scanner without replacing their current software solutions.
“We are very pleased with the growing demand for check scanning devices like MICRImage,” said Andy Deignan, MagTek’s Business Unit Manager for Financial Products. “As a US manufacturer, we have always worked hard to engineer and manufacture high-quality, reliable products. We are pleased that Silver Bullet recognizes the value in working with MagTek and look forward to many successful endeavors.”
The MICRImage scanner is designed to offer a robust solution delivering high quality imaging and precise MICR reading using MagTek’s Enhanced Reading (ER) technology in a small footprint. It reads E13B and CMC7 MICR data and scans a check image in a single pass. Its attractive, ergonomic design includes visual cues for ease of use and faster training.
MICRImage also supports an optional 3-track Magnetic Stripe Reader that reads both ISO standard cards and new AAMVA driver’s license formats. MICRImage scans check images in either black-and-white or grayscale, using the TIFF file format. Each MICRImage model supports USB, Serial, and Ethernet connectivity.
