Addition of Ranger API increases staff flexibility, reduces product development time, decreases time to market
PENSACOLA, Fl., October 27th, 2003— Oklahoma City-based Business Imaging Systems, Inc., a document management solutions provider, has signed a reseller agreement with Pensacola, Florida-based Silver Bullet Technology, Inc. The company will package Silver Bullet’s Ranger API, an industry standard software tool designed to allow item processing applications to run unchanged on a wide variety of check scanner types such as those manufactured by Unisys, NCR, Canon, Seac Banche and Maverick.
As the industry standard, Silver Bullet’s Ranger software allows customers to use virtually any item processing software with virtually any check scanning hardware. Benefits of the agreement include: increased staffing flexibility, a reduction in product development time and greater efficiency within the sales process.
“By leveraging the power of Ranger, and as more and more check scanners become Ranger compatible, our developers are able to spend their time on more important projects,” said Dan Rotelli, president of Business Imaging Systems. “Since Ranger handles transport-specific programming differences, there’s less source code to maintain, which enables us to compete more effectively with other vendors of multi-transport applications.”
According to Bryan Clark, CEO of Silver Bullet Technology, Inc., as more and more financial institutions go through mergers and acquisitions, they will need one technology provider that is a common denominator: A company that can bridge the gap between hardware and software providers.
“Silver Bullet is in a unique central position where we have relationships between the software and hardware vendors— specifically, facilitating the communication between the two,” said Clark. “As more and more financial institutions go through mergers and acquisitions, Silver Bullet will provide the technology that will enable them to mix and match their software and hardware. At the same time, we want to be able to provide companies with technology that will reduce their development effort— time to market— and provide services and training that will bring programmers up to speed on the latest technologies.”
