PENSACOLA, Fl., March 3rd, 2004— Pensacola, Florida-based Silver Bullet Technology, Inc., the world’s foremost check scanner experts providing item processing software and solutions that have come to serve as the de facto standard for financial institutions, has joined X9, an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited committee. As a member of X9, Silver Bullet has the opportunity to participate and comment on developing and publishing standards for the financial services industry.

X9 is responsible for creating technical standards that set precise criteria used as guidelines for the use of new technology within the financial services industry. The organization comprises more than 200 members, including investment managers, banks, software and equipment manufacturers, credits unions, government agencies and depositories, amongst others.

“Silver Bullet is highly committed to the development of standards,” said Bryan Clark, CEO of Silver Bullet Technology, Inc. “The guidelines set by X9 are invaluable tools for maintaining the highest level of quality in the financial services industry.”

As we move toward full Check 21 implemetation, updated standards for check processing, electronic check exchange and the financial industry’s use of data encryption will allow financial institutions to take full advantage of their technology investments. By standardizing these processes, X9 enhances product reliability, promotes interoperability of goods and services, and facilitates the transfer of technology.

“For more than three decades, X9 has led the development of American National Standards to support the financial services industry,” said Cindy Fuller, executive director of X9. “Today our standards support the technology used in bank-type cards, check processing, consumer product leasing and purchase, securities processing and methods to secure and safeguard data and information transfers.”
