Silver Bullet Technology to Enforce Banking Image Standard

Silver Bullet - Press Release Archive

PENSACOLA, FL, January 8th, 2009 – Today Silver Bullet Technology announced that it has begun enforcing the new development standard of check image formatting produced by the Accredited Standards Committee X9 Inc. – Financial Industry Standards. The image standard X9.100-181, called “Specifications for TIFF Image Format for Image Exchange,” is designed to assist with interoperability for check image exchange processing between financial institutions.

“Many check scanning devices produce images that are incompatible with existing software systems used by banks and the Federal Reserve. Since our Ranger® software is often present where check images are scanned, it is the ideal place to translate images into a standard format,” says Bryan Clark, CEO of Silver Bullet Technology. “As a member of ASC X9, we have a responsibility to make image exchange easier for downstream systems.”

Ranger is a universal check scanner interface which allows check processing software to “plug-and-play” with over sixty check scanning devices. When Ranger detects that a check image is incompatible with the X9 American National Standard, it automatically converts the image by correcting formatting errors and eliminating incompatible data fields.

The Accredited Standards Committee X9 (ASC X9) has the mission to develop, establish, maintain, and promote standards for the Financial Services Industry in order to facilitate delivery of financial services and products. ASC X9 is the industry-wide forum that brings together bankers, securities professionals, manufacturers, government officials, associations, consultants and others in the financial services arena to address technical issues, find the best solution solutions, and codify them as nationally accepted standards. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) officially accredited ASC X9 in 1984. Visit www.x9.org.
