Integration of A2iACheckReader software leverages Silver Bullet’s position as the Check Scanner Experts

PENSACOLA, Fl., November 24th, 2003— Pensacola, Florida-based Silver Bullet Technology, Inc., the world’s foremost check scanner experts providing item processing software and solutions that have come to serve as the de facto standard for financial institutions, has signed a software license agreement with New York-based A2iA Corporation. In addition to Courtesy and Legal Amount Recognition (CAR and LAR), the integration of A2iA CheckReader will enable financial institutions to use the information available on the face of business and personal checks for marketing, compliance and fraud reduction purposes.

A2iA CheckReader can read handwritten or machine printed information from a variety of money orders, deposit slips, remittance coupons, business and personal checks. Silver Bullet Technology will integrate it into Silver Bullet products.

“Silver Bullet is highly respected in the industry and their products are sold by many hardware and software companies and will be a great distribution channel for us,” said Courtney Rand, director of North American sales for A2iA.

By leveraging A2IA’s technology, Silver Bullet’s products can be used to create marketing databases for commercial depositors, cross-sell bank products to existing checking account holders, positive pay applications, fraud detection and image quality assurance. “As financial institutions begin to feel the full effects of Check 21, the need for image quality assurance and high degree of data entry automation will be critical in order for them to remain competitive in the coming technology arms race,” said Bryan Clark, president of Silver Bullet Technology, Inc. “By integrating A2iA CheckReader Software into our products, we will enable or customer to take advantage of the incredible opportunities that Check 21 brings.”

As the industry standard, Silver Bullet’s Ranger software allows customers to use virtually any item processing software with virtually any check scanning hardware. Benefits of the agreement include: increased staffing flexibility, a reduction in product development time and greater efficiency within the sales process.
